Veronica Colvin is a versatile contemporary classically trained artist with a passion for telling stories via her artworks – in traditional and digital mediums.
She is a colourist, who enjoys working with chroma in an alla prima, expressive, planar approach – painting the right colour directly onto a white canvas.
Sydney based and atelier trained at Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney (recipient of the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Art Full-Time Scholarship), and Studio Escalier, Paris. Predominantly a portrait and figurative artist, Veronica has been a finalist in the Basil Seller Art Prize and Naked & Nude Art Prize / exhibitions.
She is a Member of the Colour Society of Australia (CSA), and is also part of CSA’s National Executive Team and Editor of the Society’s eNewsletter – Spectrum. Veronica is also the co-creater and co-producer of CSA’s Creating Colour webinar series aimed at beginner and intermediate artists. The series can be viewed on the Creating Colour page on this website.
Veronica has an extensive background in story telling and communications. Prior to focusing on painting, she was a Hair, Make-Up and Special Effects Artist (plus qualified hairdresser and barber), with a strong focus in the Film and TV / Commercial industries. Prior to that, Veronica worked as a Communications / Public Relations and Marketing Practitioner, working in agency and in-house roles across the consumer and technology industries. Veronica has a Bachelor of Arts (Literature and Drama studies) and a Masters in Communication Management.
When she is not painting, Veronica is a keen ocean swimmer and swims all year round. You will mostly find her swimming at Sydney harbour beaches.
