Opening Night – Gallery Lane Cove’s Inaugural Winter Salon Exhibition 2026

15th June 2026 By Veronica Colvin

Friday, 12 June was the opening night of Gallery Lane Cove’s Inaugural Winter Salon Exhibition. I was thrilled to discover that my portrait, “Living In The Moment”, was listed as number 1 at the entrance to the exhibition. There are 147 artworks from 120 artists at all stages of their careers.

It was a full house, and is wonderfully organised and presented. The exhibition is on now till Saturday, 27 June. Catch it while you can, as I’m sure you will enjoy the diversity of the artworks on display.

Below are a few dodgy shots and video of the exhibition. It was so packed that it was hard to take good images. I need to go back and take some proper shots before it ends!

My artwork – “Living in the Moment” – is an ink, gouache and coloured pencil portrait on mixed media paper. Close up below.

Shane – Oil Sketch from Life

29th November 2023 By Veronica Colvin

I just finished teaching Portrait Drawing and Portrait Painting at Sydney Art School on Mondays this term. In between teaching and critiquing student’s work, I managed to paint a very quick oil sketch of the model for the term – Shane.

I demo as we work through the term. I would have liked to have finished it, but I’m there to teach, not paint!

I’m back teaching Term 1, 2024. Classes start Monday, 29 January. If you are interested in joining my class, you can enrol here.

The school is still running the promo from this term – but it will most likely go down soon. So if you are interested, best to quickly enrol for next year so as not to miss out on the savings.
